I am an assistant professor of elementary science education at Northern Arizona University. I earned my PhD in Teaching and Teacher Education with a concentration in Science Education at the University of Arizona. While my interests in science education are broad, I am particularly passionate about the preparation of elementary teachers to teach high quality, engaging science to their students.
Prior to this I taught mostly middle school science (although technically my teaching career included 3-8 science, K-8 technology, occasionally some math and even humanities) for thirteen years. During the 2009-2010 school year I served as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow at the National Science Foundation in the Office of Polar Programs.
